Masked Fools
Followers of the Path of Elation who turn the cosmos into a stage for joy and illusion.
The Masked Fools are an intergalactic organization devoted to elation and fun, following the Path of Elation. While often perceived as a source of chaos, they operate with specific intent within the Honkai: Star Rail universe. Sparkle, a key member revealed in version 1.4 and released in February 2024, is the fourth Masked Fool the protagonist meets and the second playable one. The group values pleasure and utilizes shapeshifting and illusions to navigate conflicts, such as their tense relationship with the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC). Their actions often blur the lines between reality and performance, turning serious situations into elaborate spectacles of fun.

Lore & Background
The Masked Fools are defined by their devotion to pleasure and the Path of Elation. Sparkle, a central figure, demonstrates their reliance on deception; she shapeshifts to assume different identities, such as disguising herself as Sampo or Robin. The group's philosophy views the world as a joke, prioritizing fun above conventional stability. In Penacony, they confront figures like Aventurine, clarifying their strained relationship with the IPC. Sparkle's ability to create illusions and hallucinations is central to their methods, allowing them to manipulate events from the shadows. They do not merely seek chaos but use it to challenge established orders, such as Sunday's attempt to remake Penacony into an eternal dream under the Path of Order.
In Their Own Story
In the Penacony arc, Sparkle first appears disguised as Sampo, guiding the Trailblazer before revealing her true identity by knocking Firefly and the Trailblazer unconscious. She later poses as Robin's brother Sunday to approach Robin, eventually detonating planted fireworks disguised as bombs during a celebratory banquet to aid the group. Her role expands in Planarcadia, where she reveals that Sparxie, an old virtual avatar who gained sentience, is her alternate persona competing in the Phantasmoon Games. After Sparxie steals a memetic virus to turn people into copies of herself, Sparkle distracts her while the Astral Express crew regroups. The conflict ends with Sparxie and Sparkle merging back into a single identity, though Sparxie's livestream was permanently banned by authorities.
Reader's Guide
Playable members of the Masked Fools include Sparkle and Sparxie, both released as 5-star characters. Sparkle, on the Path of Harmony, deals Quantum damage and supports allies by advancing turns and increasing critical hit damage via her Skill. Her Ultimate recovers four Skill Points for the team and grants the Cipher status effect to boost ally damage. Her passive Talent increases the maximum Skill Point cap. Sparxie, released in version 4.0 on February 14, 2026, deals Fire damage on the Path of Elation. Her Basic Attack is titled "Cat Got Your Flametongue?" and her Skill initiates a livestream effect called "Engagement Farming." Both characters are voiced by Lizzie Freeman in English.
